If you have an HTML based website or blog and want to get a more distinctive and original look you should upgrade to Joomla. Maybe the site that you are using currently is limited in the features that you can use. This is not the case with Joomla. This is a content management systems website that will give your site a professional image. Who is the best candidate for this type of website? Anyone that needs a competitive edge over their competitors should consider it. There are many reasons to check it out.
Open source software
Joomla is an open source software system. This means that not only is it free to use and design, it is constantly being updated. Once these new features are in place they can be put to use by your website. Any bugs or problems will be corrected and any requests for additional features will be created. You can create the site yourself. If you need your site completed right away it can always be outsourced for a nominal fee. Just make sure that you can see examples from some of their previous work to get an idea of what type of work they’ve done.
If you look at the sites created for major corporations you will see that they use Joomla. If it is good enough for million dollar businesses surely, it will enhance the quality of your website. Many of the other systems don’t appear to be for business use. There are many cases where a basic site will look terrible and cause you to lose customers. There are so many templates that are available to enhance your site. The purpose for your website is to get marketing presence and sales for your business. Upgrading to Joomla will accomplish that purpose.
Most websites have basic features without a lot of pizzazz. With this system you can create just about anything. If you want a forum, blog, members only site, or poll created there is a plug in component that will do this. You can even integrate the latest social media outlets like Facebook to your site.
As your business grows, you’ll want to get an international presence. Joomla supports international languages with their CMS system. You could possibly have more traffic to your site with this benefit alone.
If you are ready to take your site to the next level and join the big boys’ club you should upgrade to a joomla cms website. The various features and components that come with it make it crazy not to. If you are adventurous you could easily find free tutorials and videos that will show you exactly what you need to do to create your site. The many templates that you can use will allow your site to have a professional image and bring visitors to your site. You can easily get support from the Joomla website forum that will help you with any setup or installation questions.

I got my first computer in 1982 – an IBM PC 8088 (no dash-2), 64k of SOLDERED system memory, 2 full height floppy drives, a green screen with no graphics, and an 80cps Epson printer, with Graftrax…woo hoo!
I was guilted into starting my first BBS (bulletin board system) by my son, who had started his own, known as Druid’s Keep…a dos-based role playing game board. Mine had to be bigger of course, and ultimately sported 3 gigabytes of files, multiple CD drives, including CD-changers, all on a 3-node Lantastic network, running Wildcat Multiuser BBS. Wow
Fast forward a few years, and I needed software to go into the dialup ISP business. I prowled around, did not like the cost of what I saw (never mind the technical savvy required) and settled on Worldgroup, the newly named successor to The Major BBS, which had a powerful plugin available called Major TCP/IP, making it Internet dial-in-enabled, incoming telnet, ftp-able, etc. In addition, it supported Radius, so I could plug in my beloved Livingston portmasters…the year was 1995.
A few years (and several business changes and IT providers) later, I began testing out a new form of community software known as ecobuilder (e community builder)…unfortunately written in cold fusion. Running on Microsoft NT servers with SQL7, and requiring the cold fusion server, it never really took off. So I poked around and joined a merry band of miscreants who had shown the inventor of php-nuke the door and branched – into Postnuke, a CMS that, along with phpnuke, was largely responsible for the widespread acceptance and depth of features evident in the modern CMS’ we enjoy today. If you would like to see what some of the original cast of characters from Postnuke are doing these days, check out – Xaraya – it is not for the CMS newcomer, but what a powerhouse.
I have now moved on from Postnuke, and, contrary to half-hearted attempts over a year ago with the platform, am happy to report that the relatively young open-source fork project of Joomla – a breakaway from an older CMS known as Mambo, has a developer community literally on drugs, churning out high-value components, add-ons and themes, SEF (search engine friendly) URLs, and most important of all: MARKETING CAPABILITIES!
When choosing a platform on which to blog, I kept going back and forth between the towering open source giant in the industry: WordPress and the increasingly robust, though more complex true CMS – Joomla, before determining that it did not make any sense to pick between the two when I could use BOTH! Since then, I am finding all sorts of platforms doing the same thing – sticking with their old tried and true, and simply adding their WordPress blog to their Internet presence. The best of both worlds.
Since you spend so much time working on traffic to your flagship blog – it only makes sense that you should be able to offer both free and premium content on the same site. I do that here on my site – and I’m ready to show you how you can do it, too. All you need is a neat little program from iDevSpot called iSubscribe.
I love iSubscribe from iDevSpot. It’s easy to use it on any blog to provide a quality WordPress pay site. Although you can use iSubscribe to protect an entire blog, consider the pay per post approach. You can see a preview of your premium content, and after your customer pays via PayPal, they get a password emailed to them allowing access to the full content.
Since iSubscribe has open source code, you can tweak it to allow protected downloads, and even integrate third-party affiliate programs. It’s all seamless, and does not require any intervention from you – truly a ‘hands-off’ business that frees you up to work with my customers, answer their questions, etc. Provide premium content, videos, downloads – all from behind a secure pay wall; it’s all very easy to do with this product. This product beats other scripts, some that sell for up to ten times as much.
I heartily recommend iSubscribe – it’s easy to install, has great support, and will work with WordPress, or any PHP-based application. The iDevSpot forums are a great place to get help, mods and ideas. At less than $40, this product pays for itself the first month you use it.
Have you seen the claims made by bloggers about earning up to 5 figures per month with blogging? Others may have mediocre results like $1,000 or $300 per month. Having tried making money with AdSense using the WordPress AdSense System myself, I finally understand the whole process of this system. People achieve radically different results because of the amount of time put in and experience the have.
1. My Own Experience with the WordPress AdSense System
I purchased this system about 1 year ago. It does require some work from you to setup at first, and you probably need to spend 3 to 4 hours a day implementing the techniques. About 4 months into using the system, I was able to earn at least US$3,000 per month in profits as I build up more and more passive income blogs.
2. How Does The WordPress AdSense System Work?
Users will learn how to setup many WordPress money making blogs in the fastest way possible. The author, Gobala Krishnan, promises that his methods will make anyone their first AdSense dollar within 7 days of implementing the system. I personally saw my first AdSense money after just 4 days. The best part is that once you setup these blogs, you can earn residual income from them as long as you can maintain the same amount of traffic.
So if you can setup a blog that earns you near passive $5 a day, you simply make more and more blogs across various popular niches. Sure it takes some hard work up front, but when you achieve the end result of earning 4 figures monthly at almost complete autopilot, it will be well worth it.
Most of the tools to work the WordPress AdSense System are free, and in fact Gobala has included most of them on his download page. Once you get this system, there is really no reason you can fail to make money when you follow the steps properly.
Being a user of various Content Management System (CMS) for the past several years, I found that it is both tedious and frustrating if a CMS is not user-friendly in terms of Search Engine Optimization aspects. For example, some software will require an additional plug in before you can configure the meta tags or the URL structure. To me, this is very troublesome especially for people who have to create new sites often.
I have used various CMS such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and PHPBB before and what I found is that WordPress beats all the other CMS hands down – in terms of Search Engine Optimization aspects. In this article, I will share with you why WordPress is the only CMS you should use if you need an extra edge over your competitors for Search Engine visibility.
First, WordPress has a built-in option that allow you to configure the web page URL structure. The permalinks option in WordPress enables anyone to configure the URL structure so that the URL is Search Engine friendly. One very good example is to use the blog post name in the URL so that Search Engine can allocate high relevancy to the specific page. You can change this settings under the Permalinks, Settings option in the WordPress dashboard.
The second advantage for using WordPress is its amazing loading speed. If you are an existing user for any CMS, I believe you would agree with me that WordPress is the most compact CMS currently. All my websites powered by WordPress loads very fast especially if the images are further optimized as well on the pages. Take Joomla for example, it can take nearly three times longer to load than my WordPress sites. I would like to point out that the loading speed of the website is pretty important especially if you are using the site in your Google Adwords campaign. This is because Google considers web page loading speed as one of the advertisement Quality Score.
The third reason why WordPress is so well received by Search Engine Optimizers is because there are a few very popular SEO plug in that can easily enhance the effect of optimization overall. One of the popular plug in is the ‘All in One SEO Pack’. This plug in alone will be able to help you to achieve optimal results in a matter of seconds. In my experience, there are no other CMS that has a plug in for SEO that is so easy to use and almost maintenance free.
I am managing more than 10 web sites currently and most of my sites are powered by WordPress. I believe choosing a right CMS for SEO purpose is very important especially if you want to have more time to do your marketing instead of the technical issues.
One of the frustrating parts about blogging is sometimes finding inspiration on topics to write about. One of the more frustrating parts of blogging is matching your moments of inspiration with spreading out your blog posts to allow for a relatively even amount of postings. A lot of blogs that I read make it seem like all the writer does all day long is sit around behind the screen, banging away on the keyboard.
This is where the WordPress Timestamp feature can pay huge dividends to your blogging efforts.
The WordPress Timestamp feature can save you a lot of time when it comes to creating and publishing your posts. Lets say that you have a day where you are really feeling inspired about several topics, your writing is really flowing and you have some great ideas for posts. You have written 3 or 4 posts, but you would like to spread them out because you are getting ready to go on vacation, or have that looming deadline for a project at work that you must complete.
Using the Timestamp feature will help you to spread your posts out over a few days and publish them for you.
Here’s how it works.
Take a post that you have written and are ready to publish, including proper tagging, images, etc. Go to the “Post Timestamp” on your post page and expand it. Select the “Edit timestamp” by clicking on it, there should now be a checkmark in the box. Edit and select the date and time that you want your post published.
Now there is one important step left in editing your post for future publication.
You now need to click on the “Publish” button. If you don’t do this and just click on “Save”, it will save your post as a draft and not publish it when you have specified.
This feature has saved me quite a bit of time and frustration of trying to write posts when I have lots of other things going on. I hope this helps you in your moments of inspiration and blogging!

The Nintendo DSi is upon us, and the video gaming world is in a state of absolute frenzy once again.Nintendo’s newest portable gaming superstar is a stark improvement over its predecessors, the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo DS Lite. Possessing of a smaller, sleeker body (3mm thinner than the DS Lite), the Nintendo DSi also boasts of the following exclusive features:
-Dual cam for a variety of applications;
-External memory storage for the new data formats the DSi can read and process;
-Better audio capabilities. The music-playing feature of the DSi can now rival the best MP3 players in the market today;
-Extra level of brightness added to the dual screen display;
-A more powerful processing engine, composed of 16MB RAM compared to the mere 4MB of its predecessors. Truly, the Nintendo DSi is pretty nifty gaming machine.
But it doesn’t come cheap.
With an SRP of $180, many people – including avid gamers – are quite hesitant to buy the new Nintendo DSi. In this day and age of economic uncertainty when a global recession is threatening every facet of our lives, $180 becomes an even steeper amount.
Is the Nintendo DSi worth $180. Yes, it is.
But can people afford $180 these days? That is the pivotal question.
For enterprising folks, there are number of ways by which they can get a Nintendo DSi unit for free. Here are some of them:
1. Join online contests. Most gaming companies, Nintendo included, send console units to popular gaming websites. These gaming websites use the units for review purposes, but some of them would rather capitalize on the marketing mileage that the particular console’s popularity can provide. They sponsor contests – be it an electronic raffle, a creativity-based competition, and the likes – with the winner being awarded the console that the website received for free.
2. Earn easy cash online and buy a Nintendo DSi. There are many ways by which you can make a living on the World Wide Web. Look for a drop shipper and help sell its products in popular outlets like eBay.com and Yahoo Auctions. Create your own digital product and sell it over affiliate networks like ClickBank.com. Look for hot selling products and help promote the same for some amazing commission. Offer your services – be it writing, programming, or your time to fulfill menial tasks – for a fee. You’ll be surprised with the earning potentials that are possible on the internet. In due time, you’d have enough cash to buy a Nintendo DSi, among other things.
3. Join an online gaming store’s affiliate program. Refer customers to the said gaming store. As reward, you can be paid with cash or with store credits. Either way, if you earn enough, you can redeem them for a brand new Nintendo DSi.
As they always say, if there’s a will, there’s way. Don’t let the recession ruin your dreams of owning a Nintendo DSi. With hard work and a little luck, you can be playing the newest Fire Emblem game as soon as next week.

Are you wondering how to download WordPress? If so, this guide will cover everything you need to know to get started. Before we get started, the first thing you have to figure out is whether or not you even need to download WordPress.
If your web hosting provider offers any automatic installs, then you might be able to find an easier way to load WordPress. If they do, you can most likely skip the download and let the application install WordPress for you.
However, if your web hosting provider does not offer any quick install packages, then you will have to download WordPress. To get started, all you have to do is browse to the WordPress.org website. Once you are there, just click the download link to automatically save WordPress to your computer. Just make sure to keep track of where it is saved as you will need this for the next step.
Once you have WordPress downloaded, then you must upload the files to your web server. The easiest way to do this is using a FTP program, which allows you to upload and download files on a web server.
Keep in mind that you probably do not want to keep the files in the “WordPress” folder, otherwise people will have to go to yourdomain.com/wordpress in order to see your blog or website. Instead, take all the files within the folder and upload them to the root of your web server. This will install WordPress on your domain name so people can access it.
So there you have it, a quick and easy lesson in how to download WordPress.

The potential advantages for virtualizing your servers are many, but this article focuses on the three main reasons why a small business may want to look into virtualization. Virtualization is usually something that you hear about in a larger company that has several servers and hundreds of employees, but it does have its place in much smaller businesses if done correctly because it can improve disaster recovery, server utilization, and reduce power consumption.
Improve Disaster Recovery
You have the potential to get your server back up and running faster if there was a critical hardware failure on your server it that server is virtualized. You could potentially copy the “virtual server” file over to another piece of hardware and then install a virtual machine player such as “VMware Player” and boot up your “virtual” server file within minutes and have it fully functional again almost regardless of the hardware that it is physically running on.
If this hardware problem had happened in a regular, non virtualized environment, you would have to fix the hardware problem on that specific server before using it again, or at minimum restore from backup to another piece of hardware. This usually isn’t just a matter of waiting on the restore files to be copied, but usually a fresh installation of the operating system on the replacement hardware is involved.
With virtualization, your server can be backup up and functional in the amount of time that it takes to do a file copy. Note, obviously that the larger the virtual server file, the longer it would take to copy the file. Nevertheless, the amount of time involved with doing a file copy vs. a restoration from tape or online backup would be significantly less.
Improve Server Utilization
Most Small Businesses that I have encountered that have a 2-5 servers could really manage on much less in today’s “virtualization capable” world. A lot of small businesses of this size tend to “dedicate” a server to particular Line of Business Application or function such as a Mail Server, Database Server, File Server, etc. Most of these servers are using only a fraction of that server’s processing power. With Virtualization, those servers can be consolidated onto fewer physical servers and the amount of processing power and memory needed can be added as the needs of the virtual servers change.
Reduce Power Consumption
When you combine your servers and eliminate unneeded physical servers, you are going to see a reduction in the amount of power consumption. This is not only due to not having as many servers or monitors plugged in, but also in the reduction of cooling costs associated with cooling those unneeded servers. I don’t know of a study out for how much you can save in a small business of the size that we described above, but I know that in larger environments the savings costs associated with cooling their data centers can be as high 85%.
